Investee Detail
Emeritus Investee - La Cuna

La Cuna serves children in the San Diego County system, with priority given to Latino infants, toddlers and their siblings. La Cuna will focus on recruiting Latino San Diego County families (including single parent families) who are financially stable and does not accept individuals who are interested in becoming foster families as a means of supplementing their income. La Cuna offers comprehensive outreach and parent recruitment using culturally and linguistically appropriate methods; a quality training program, with appropriate curriculum. La Cuna parents attend 24 hours of training followed by ongoing parent training and case management services and parents are visited weekly for the first three months and bi-weekly thereafter to ensure ongoing support with effective evaluation tools that measure: (1) the efficacy of the parent-training curriculum and (2) the psychosocial, emotional and physical health of each La Cuna child at regular intervals over a five-year period. La Cuna is seeking SDSVP assistance with marketing outreach, implementation of its strategic plan and assistance in advocating for systems change, influencing policy-making decisions so that more resources and attention are given to our youngest and most vulnerable foster children.
